Sandy is a freelance writer and web designer. She writes
poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. Her various works have appeared in small presses, newspaper articles, anthologies, magazines, and webzines. Some of her credits include;
Voyager Poetry Press,
Poetic Voices,
Flashquake, the
Writer Magazine, and most recently
Writers' Journal. Sandy has also edited and published the now defunct
Sour Grapes Newsletter for writers with fellow writer and artist, Sheila Foley from 1995 to 2004.
Last November (2008) Sandy took part in the novel writing challenge known as
NaNoWriMo, (National Novel Writing Month). Participants must reach 50,000 words in 30 days. Hey, it's only 1,667 words or three and a half pages a day to make the finish line, a writing marathon by any stretch. Sandy and fellow group member, Julianne signed on last year and made it to the finish line 2 days early, each racking up more than the 50k word count. Now, they are insane enough to do it again this year and are frantically tapping away on their keyboards as we speak. Sandy wrote an article on this event which appears in the Nov/Dec 2009 issue of
Writers' Journal. An excerpt is on the website. Check out the magazine to learn more or log onto NaNo's webite above. Also check out Sandy's
story page to read an excerpt from the novel.
